RSA Archer & Service Now Integration


RSA Archer is a popular integrated risk management solution used across the globe in the information security space. ServiceNow is cloud-based workflow automation platform that enables enterprise organizations to improve operational efficiencies by streamlining and automating routine work tasks. There are many organizations using both these tools and requires and integration between these for streamlining different processes. Being an RSA Archer professional, I am publishing an easy method to pull data from service now to Archer. 

Let us consider the following use case to brief on the integration.

Use case: Organization Maintains CMDB data in Service Now and Archer requires to consume the same for different Integrated risk management use-cases.

Solution: Following are steps to be configured on both platforms for achieving the integration and resolving the use-case.

Service Now

Step 1: Create a report in service now using CMDB query builder or from service now table. Make sure to Copy and keep the report ID.

Step 2: Create a user account to be provided to the archer for consuming the report.

Step 3: Publish the report with the user mentioned in step 2 having access to it.

RSA Archer

Step1: Create a data feed with the target as application/assets (For cmdb)

Step 2 : User HTTP Transporter in Transporter Tab

Step 3: Enter the credentials from step2 from service now.

Step 4: On the URL tab mention below URL , Make sure to replace the report id and instance

https://<instance>/<Report ID>

Step 5: On the Navigation tab select navigation method as delimited text iterator

Step 6: Select record delimiter in navigation tab as “Newline \n”

Step 7: Load source fields in source definition

Step 8: Do Mapping and filtering as required with the target application

Step 9: Run the feed and wait till complete.
